THERE are some shows in TV that “make” an entire generation of actors.
Think “Freaks & Geeks” or “The Mickey Mouse Club.”
James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Jason Segel all came from the former.
Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera all came from the latter.
“Friday Night Lights (FNL)” is another one of those shows and it’s stars are just starting to make their mark:
-
Taylor Kitsch has just been named one of Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch, with three major roles in three major moviesall about to be released this year.
- Jesse Plemons is about to star in a new NBC comedy called Bent.
- Zach Gilford jumped from NBC to ABC to star in “Off the Map” and just wrapped several major movies.
- Minka Kelly was one of the new angels in the (failed) Charlie Angels reboot.
- Michael B. Jordan moved from one Jason Katims show (FNL) to another Parenthood.
It’s not just the “young” actors either. Connie Britton is now starring on Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story” on FX.
Sometimes, the TV gods align. The did for FNL. Now shows — and viewers — everywhere are going to reap the rewards.
Can you think of other shows like this that sparked an entire slate of careers?
