“What are you listening to?” “What bands do you like?” “What’s on your iPod right now?”
I get these questions all the time and being a former DJ means two things about the music I listen to: One, it’s very eclectic. Two, it’s constantly changing.
So each week I’m going to do a round-up of what I’m listening to — what songs are on #HeavyRotation.
This Week’s #HeavyRotation
Music from the new Ryan Gosling music Drive.
It’s definitely weird late 80s electro-style, but it’s cool — especially in the movie. In fact, this is one of those movies that’s made by its soundtrack. Make sure you see the movie before you listen, otherwise it just won’t work.
Cool but freaky one that I’m listening to while editing is Nightcall by Kavinsky.
Andy Grammer
Now on American Top 40. And good for him. Silky smooth voice. Great piano skills. Solid, soulful Gavin Degraw-esque sound. Keep Your Head Up is the one riding its way to the top of the charts.
A song I keep hitting replay on is Miss Me.
Switchfoot
Yes, that does say Switchfoot. And yes, I realize it’s not 2004 and I’m no longer an angsty teen. But, the band’s new album Vice Verses is worth checking out for one reason:
Thrive is a beautiful song. Like perfect, beautiful.
